Comments on the artwork
Originally titled “pretty on the outside, hollow on the inside” this piece depicts a bound porcelain doll crumbling into fragments. This artwork intends to speak on the intricacies of human condition, displaying a painful transaction between acting as a“doll”, that is having a sense of being created for no other sake than, and thus fulfilling, an expectation of outward beauty and reticence, and yet by design containing nothing within, providing feelings of hollowness and a unique parasocial burden. Featuring snakes that magically appear from behind and broken pieces that are nowhere to be found, this piece wonderfully conveys a sense of internal conflict and misunderstood distress.
