Inspired by one of the most well known animes of all time, this is Demon Slayers animated protagonist Nezuko Kamado. This character, who usually is an un-killable hyper regenerative fighting machine, is depicted in a state of bodily disarray and extreme gore. This contradiction gives way to an idea that everyone has their wounds, though typically not gaining nearly the physicality as what’s illustrated, that they bear permanently. Even for our resilient Nezuko she has been eternally frozen within a terryfing frame forever defined by her breathtaking wounds. A tasteful balance between cute poppy colors, playful line-work and harsh themes of trauma and helplessness, this piece brings lovely symmetry to a unique canvas.
