Influenced by one of the most unprecedented mangas of its time, Berserk. This piece highlights a thought-provoking dichotomy between the protagonist and antagonist. See Griffith, the primary antagonist, takes on an angelic appearance and dreams of a world in which human and monster alike can co-exist. While a venerable resolve, in attempts to do so he creates absolute war and sacrifices the lives of those he loves. All the while our protagonist Guts, with a harsh and demonic demeanor, fights on behalf of humanity and justice with passion and ferocity. Watching Guts smile as he is martyred, then to see contempt develop in the face of Griffith, it presents a striking question of morality to the viewer; does the end justify the means. When not pondering greater moral implications, you can take notice of this artworks soft use of black, cute monochrome colorway and perfect spacial awareness leading from the wrist to the elbow.
