Comments on the artwork

A heavily stylized and compositionally different rendition of the melancholy Stańczyk. While the same feelings despair and societal separation remain, new ideas are displayed with the addition of two female subjects. With this, instead of a distinction between a jester and his royal court, we have a disconnection between an unassuming prince and his advisors. With no eyes being conceivably met, off-putting body languages and the visible personification of avarice, ignorance and self-sabotage, this artwork takes a more confrontational and introspective approach to societies parasocial contradictions.
