Comments on the artwork

Hailing from the animated series Blue Exorcist, this is an interpretive depiction of Kuro, the two tailed demon cat who chose to fight alongside the likes of human kind. Although a furry friend and indispensable weapon for the forces of good, Kuro is only met with hatred, misunderstanding and constant strife. Originally named “too angelic for purgatory yet too impure for sanity” this artwork discusses exactly that. Creating an opportunity to run away from horrors past, only to not quite belong within a bright future. A terrifying mix of not belonging and not wanting to belong yet wishing that such a contradiction could be understood. With mutilated bodies that look almost childlike and a hell-bent demon cat that looks cute enough to pet, this piece peacefully presents an event marked by rage and despair.
